Ceci n’est pas is a unique, one of a kind digital artwork, an experiment in crypto collectibles and non-fungible tokens (NFTs). NFTs are digital files that can be traded on the Ethereum blockchain platform, including a title deed granting the holder ownership. Digital media are because of their very nature, infinitely copyable. To upload it, is to lose control. What does it mean when one person can claim ownership? What does it mean when all source files have been destroyed, and the art can never be remade? What value does a barcode have if it cannot be scanned?
